Lump Breakers
Lump breakers are designed to reduce large clumps of agglomerated material into smaller, more uniform particles to support consistent material flow. Progressive Products Inc. lump breakers are commonly used with materials such as chemicals, ash, sugar, food products, and plastics. Units are available in 12” x 12” and 24” x 24” sizes and can be fabricated in 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel, or carbon steel to meet application requirements.
While lump breakers effectively break down material buildup, they are not intended to function as precision size-reduction or grinding equipment. To ensure proper performance, material testing is recommended to confirm correct unit sizing, along with downstream level sensors to prevent overfilling of the feeding device. Customers may submit material for in-house testing to verify suitability before installation.

How lump breakers work
As dry bulk material passes through the lump breaker, rotating teeth break clumped material apart into smaller particles. This lets you maintain consistent flow in pneumatic systems with lower energy requirements, and boost the value of the final product.
Our lump breakers also come with long-life bearings and maintenance-free seals to prevent clogging, as well as factory-installed air purge to keep components clean.
